This new release appears to be an ad hoc collection of a relative few, most likely, many-times-previously-published James Beard recipes. It is disappointing that it is void of any illustrations, drawings or photos, containing only plain text to inspire. Some would say that this was also true of the style of cookbooks from the 1960s and 1970s. If you have an interest in James Beard's extensive writings and do not own any of his actual books, you may find this somewhat expensive book useful. Though I recommend searching for his out of print early editions or better yet, finding a copy of the comprehensive "James Beard's American Cookery" republished by Little, Brown & Company in 2010 at the same sticker price.
