Hi all - sorry for the radio silence! I was travelling in India and prior to that it was incredibly busy getting ready to leave and whatnot. Lots going on. So, the short answer is, it is completely my intention to keep this forum available if at all possible. I think it's an incredible resource and community, and I'd love to keep it thriving. That said, I definitely rely on support from Sho & Mike, and they have a bunch of stuff (aka jobs and other projects) going on as well...How about this? Let's keep this thread going and attempt to make a short list of any technical issues you're seeing, and hopefully we can pick them off. I need to update the featured cookbook section as well (blush)....I'll do my best to touch base with Sho & mike in the coming weeks to see if we can remedy some of the issues so the site is functioning the way it was prior. Happy holiday all! And, again, apologies for being off the radar for so long. I'm definitely back. -h
I would certainly be very disappointed to lose what we have here. At the current time the site is buggy- sometimes it works normally and sometimes it limps along. When this happens, there are random things that malfunction. The site does operate, though intermittently. So there are bugs that need to be fixed, and I don’t know how to get the attention of someone who can address the issues. In the meantime, if the symptoms don’t worsen, we should still be able to make use of it however frustrating it may be.
The site certificate is a validation of the URL the browser is attempting to reach. When the certificate is not current, there is some risk that the site reached will not be the site programmed. Here, I believe the risk is minimal. We all are very familiar with the site and how we interface with it. I believe that the outdated certificate is not contributing to the site malfunctions. Though it is an indication that the site is not being maintained. My real concern is with the URL license. If it is not kept current, the site will shut down.
We all enjoy the use of this site on a no-cost basis. We should understand that operating any site has costs. I have a pretty good idea that there is an affiliate relationship with Amazon and that provides some revenue but the reality may be that the site operates at a loss. A loss is certainly a reason. But whatever the reason, the right thing to do is inform us, the “members”. Lets hope that the right thing will be forthcoming.
I love the community too and I have enjoyed the flow of people that have come through here over the past couple of years and making connections with people from other parts of the world who share my love of cookbooks........I too, would feel sad to lose that....
I can't get on to the home page either and my cookbooks and recipes have gone too........I am relieved to hear though that others have been having that same issue with the security warning - I thought it was just me and have been avoiding signing in because of it!! Best wishes to everyone.........
Lovely to see you back here Heidi - we have missed you!
