What is your favorite Indian cookbook? I know some of you out there must have a book that you use and love.

I am just getting started with this book. Based on the general consensis, I will enjoy it very much.

I cook a lot of indian cuisine and up to now this is one of my two favorite indian cooking book.

This one is vegetarian an really authentic with a lot of explanation about the ingredients and how to substitute something a bit too "indian" to be found in the west.

This book has been great. Everything I have made from it has been delicious. That being said, I'm planning on cooking more Indian food in January and February and was going to cook from Madhur Jaffrey's World-of-the-East Vegetarian Cooking, which is new to me and I haven't made anything from it yet. It's not solely Indian as it has other cuisines included but I want to try the Indian food from that classic book.

I have this book but haven't been able to get into it. I probably should have just dove in to some recipe and tried it, but I think I was just overwhelmed by the depth of this book and the lack of photos - didn't know where to start. I have that Madhur Jaffrey book also - will check it out.

Vickstersb - I know what you mean about no photos. That's why I haven't tried anything from my many Moosewoods that I brought early on. I'm such a visual person that even a few photos would go such a long way in terms of inspiring me to try something new. I think I plunged right into this one because I was looking for a good Chana Masala recipe so I started there and that was so good that I branched out a bit more, though by no means have I even scratched the surface. I have a few lentils in my pantry that are used heavily in Indian cooking (urad dal, moong dal) so I plan on cooking more from this book and the Madhur Jaffrey books that I have after the holidays.

This is a great cookbook and also a beautiful one with all the pictures. Most of the recipe I made were really good. A great book if you like lamb. It is a bit more accessible then the previous one.

Indian food is so good and cooked at home it is much less fat and rich...

I find Indian cooking pretty intimidating, but I have made an eggplant dish from this cookbook.

This must have been one of my first cookbooks. Utterly simple.
