I know a lot of you are big fans of Madhur Jaffrey. The only book of hers I own is World Vegetarian and I've used it very little, due to format not recipe quality I think. If I were to buy only one other book of hers, I'd love to know which one you would recommend and why. I know, sounds like a homework assignment! Thanks for your assistance!

January/February Featured Author Madhur Jaffrey

As you know, Ms. Jaffrey has written a slug of cookbooks, I counted at least 14 on Amazon, and I believe that makes her a good choice for a featured author. I have only one myself, At Home With Madhur Jaffrey. My plan and suggestion would be to use this opportunity to participate with the book you own, World Vegetarian and see what other members have to say with their reviews of her other books and their recipes. I am making my first recipe today and I am looking forward to seeing what other members review and post.

I have World of the East Vegetarian Cooking, From Curries to Kebabs and At Home with Madhur Jaffrey. I haven't cooked from them much, so I am also looking forward to the recipes review and trying some out.

Sorry I missed your question before, Shannon. I only own two Madhur Jaffrey books- her Indian Cooking is the first cookbook I really used and is very cherished by me. However, if you already have Indian cookbooks, or want more of a tome with lots of regional variety, it wouldn't be the best choice. I also have From Curries to Kebabs...aka outside of the US as the Curry Bible I believe. I really like this one too. It focuses on curries from across the world and isn't limited to South Asia, but the Caribbean, South Africa, etc. While it does have many meat dishes, there are also several fish and legume and vegetable options in this. I have heard good things about Cooking at Home with MJ (I think this is supposed to be more focused on weeknight fare, but don't quote me on that) and her Curry Nation (British curries) sounds good too. If I bought a third, it would be one of these or one of her vegetarian ones.

I own her World of the East Vegetarian which I enjoy but have only delved partiallly into. I just ordered her Ultimate Curry Bible.... We'll see where that lands!
