I thought of myself as someone who can handle moderately spicy foods but I found out after this slaw that I am not that person! My mouth was on fire after a few bites to the point where I could not finish and had to go and brush my teeth immediately ! I was in pain, actually. The taste is pretty good, not phenomenal , I would use a bit more lime juice and a lot less jalapeno , not the full one like the recipe suggests but about a quarter. I have since doused the salad with sugar , hope it will edible later on, if not in the garbage it goes :(

shoegal - I have eaten the same foods prepared the same way on separate occasions and had quite different reactions to them - you could have gotten an extra spicy pepper or an extra spicy seed. don't give up on the recipe because of that!
