These are so delicious and easy to put together. As in her other scones, Goldman has you mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, dry mustard powder) and the butter in the food processor then the shredded cheddar gets pulsed in there a few times and all of that gets emptied into a big bowl. Then the wet ingredients are added (eggs and milk, though I used buttermilk). You could certainly add some green onions or bacon or a sprinkle of paprika or cayenne. These were perfect as is but who says you can't guild the lily every now and then? These were a big hit today with Cincinnati chili for the omnivores and Tuscan Chickpea Soup for the vegetarians for our football playoff gathering at our house. Everyone loved them!

This not-too-sweet, roll-out sugar cookie recipe is one that my daughter picked for us to make this holiday season when we had some baking time together recently. We used holiday-themed cookie cutters instead of hearts and dipped them in melted chocolate as the recipe suggests. They were easy to roll out and re-roll the scraps and have kept a nice texture (even many days later) - not too soft, not too crisp.

I made a mistake. These are butter cookies and not sugar cookies. My bad.
