I pre-ordered this book that is scheduled for release on SEP 18. We visited Ken's Artisan Bakery in Portland, OR today and learned that there will be a Book Release Party at the bakery on SEP 29. While there in the afternoon, I was able to buy and taste his Walnut Baguette. A fat, deeply mahogany colored, hard crusted, part whole wheat loaf with nearly burnt scored ears. It's abundant walnuts were toasted nearly black. It is every bit as good as I expected- delicious! Later we returned to the bakery at 5:30pm for Monday Night Pizza, the one night that pizza is made and served at the bakery. We enjoyed a Fennel Sausage with Roasted Onion Pizza and a Mushroom with Shallots version finished piled high with a mountain of wild peppery arugula and a shared whole-leaf romaine Caesar Salad. All were excellently prepared and presented and are given my highest recommendation. I will anticipate with great impatience, the receipt of my copy of this book and to baking my way through its pages. More to follow…
