Rachel Grisewood is the owner of Manna From Heaven, a Sydney business that makes beautiful baked goods - little cakes, biscuits (cookies) and other sweet and savoury treats. She started the business making one product - Chocolate Crunch, but then grew to making two products and then three and as I guess they say, the rest is history........The over riding philosophy of Manna From Heaven is using beautiful ingredients - good organic butter, happy eggs, great chocolate and maintaining the taste of homemade.....
The book is a lively and eclectic mix of Rachel's favourite recipes from both her business and her home kitchen. She is a person who seems to genuinely love feeding and cooking for her family and friends. Her life is full of colour and brightness, as the vivid pink and orange covers of her book will attest.....the pages in between are just as colourful. Her food is real, her baking often decadent, her flavours robust and snappy.....it is a book invested with a lot of fun and love.....
being from sydney I love manna from heaven cakes. it is really great that she has shared so many of her commercial cake recipes. this book is a baking standard for me. if i want to make a sponge i ask rachel. good biscuit base i ask rachel. the stories behind the recipes are really interesting to read as well. there is a warm goats cheese and blueberry salad that i really love.
just one complaint she uses a lot of fruit powders that i have trouble tracking down.
