This is an excellent book that my sister bought for me during my first year of university. It has lots of no nonsense recipes and ideas for tweaking the flavours and ingredients. I go back to it again and again. My copy is pocket book sized so it's small enough to take on hols - I've used it on many camping trips so it is battered and well thumbed!
I gave a copy of this to each of my sons when they left home (& they are now good cooks); also used it often when I had 4 small children. I love Nigel's tone, the way he describes flavours & textures, his totally politically incorrect love of bacon & other fatty things. When you want something quick, easy & utterly delicious - Nigel is your man.
Like Amelia, Real Fast Food is the only cookery book I take with me on our summer villa holiday. It's packed with fantastic, practical, tasty recipes which I use day in, day out. Mushroom soup, avocado, toast - simple, un-mucked about with food - my kind of cookbook author!
Nice book, probably more suited to the british than the american palate.
