The bookshop I work at hosted Greg & Lucy Malouf at an event tonight and when hosting an author, we always prepare some dishes from their latest book. These breads were so delicious - a yeasted dough flavoured with turmeric and filled with a paste of chopped dates and some butter. The pastries were then sprinkled with cumin seeds before being baked. They were so good - a tiny bit sweet, some richness from the date and butter and then a lovely savoury, spicy hit from the cumin. In the book they are made into heart shapes which we did too and they were really gorgeous.
